Ronald Mc-N-Donald

Yesterday the whole family went to McDonald's for a meet and greet with Ronald himself! Sitting outside in the sweltering heat, we watched Ronald perform magical feats, ride his unicycle, and hand out all kinds of swag. Luke got to go onstage to assist with the "zipper bag" trick and was thrilled, as you can see. Luke loves Mr. Mc-N-Donald. I think it's a guy thing... old Ronnie seems to creep out the ladies, right?

Step Stool Shmepp Shmool

Turns out the Mischief Man does not even need a step stool. Oh no....

Mischief Man

This is the mischief man. Unsupervised for probably fifteen seconds, Nate managed to crawl up and into the bathroom sink, pull all the things off the counter into the basin with himself, and turn on the cold water, full blast. He thought this was hysterical. And so did Luke. And frankly, so did I. Bye bye bathroom step stool; see you in about six more months!

Beach Cruisers

Yesterday we shared the most perfect afternoon imaginable. We went down to the beach with Luke's new bike, rented some beach cruisers for ourselves, and all went for a long ride along the beach. It was Luke's first time outside our yard on his two wheeler, and it won't be long til those training wheels come off. His smile was ear to ear as we rode, when he wasn't beaming with pride. We went from Redondo all the way to the end of the trail at Torrance Beach, where we put our feet in the waves and got some waters at the snack shack.

It was so heavenly that the first thing Luke said when he awoke this morning was, "Mommy, can we ride bikes at the beach today?!?!" It was so heavenly that Scott and I decided to head over to Dad's Bike Barn and buy a yellow beach cruiser, complete with the baby seat on back. Already the bikes have gone to the park and back, and then later for an after dinner ride.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my Dad and my sisters and I hitting the bike trails in Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills, stopping at the liquor store for treats after exploring the "woods" and parks along the paths. When I climb up on that beach cruiser now, I have to admit it's like being ten again. I am thrilled that we are biking as a family, and surprised by my sudden passion... but loving every second. We're off to the beach again tomorrow!

More Crafty Shirts

We saw this idea for making a shirt in Family Fun magazine. While Luke was out of commission for a few days, I went and got a shirt and a bleach pen. He chose a black widow design, and it was the hit of the preschool!
