Our Comedian

Here's how Nate tells a Knock Knock Joke:

"Knock Knock"

You say, "Who's there?"

He replies "Bumpa!" or "Jamie" or "Grampa Hal!"

He's literally hilarious.

Growing Up

For Christmas, Santa brought Luke a Spiderman shaving kit. After a couple months in a drawer, it has been rediscovered and for the second time in a few weeks, Luke awoke and decided he needed to shave. Really, at this age, once every couple weeks is enough. He was so serious about it, and so cute. Well, and so smooth and kissable afterwards, of course.

Mother/Son Dance

Tonight was the Mother-Son 80's dance at Luke's school. At 4 pm we headed over to Kade Hahn's house, to have dinner with him and his family, as well as with Tyler Lumbao and his mom, Julie. The adults enjoyed some drinks while the boys played Wii... Susie (Kade's mom) had gone punk for the occasion, and was spraying all the boys hair blue and red. After a delicious spaghetti dinner, we walked over to the school and into the cafeteria, where the dance was taking place.

The boys started dancing right off the bat, and we got to take pictures together, play outside, and watch Ferris Bueller on the big screen. Luke and I even snuck out to drive through McDonald's, and then returned to close the party down. Although there was no Spandau Ballet slow dance, all in all, it was a night to remember.

Egg Decorating

Last weekend our Bumpa came for a visit and we decided to decorate Easter Eggs. Luke was especially excited to decorate because our dye kit had a Star Wars theme. Luke, Daddy and Bumpa all worked together to make one dozen works of art. Luke covered two eggs in Star Wars stickers completely, and then saved them in the fridge all week so he could take them for share day on Thursday (apparently they were a big hit!).

What I love...

Right now, what I love about my boys is...

When Nate daily suggests going to Chuck E. Cheese, or Kids Concepts, Bumpa's, the park, or Jamie's, that when I have to say no, he responds with, "How bout tomowrow?"

What a loving friend Luke is to others.

When Luke is getting dressed, and he grabs the ends of his sleeves so they won't crawl up inside his sweatshirt or jacket.

When my kids are in the back of the car, smiling and laughing with each other, singing "We Will Rock You" or "Don't Stop Believin" or anything by Oasis.

The way Nate says "Mommy!" at the end of every single sentence. "Okay, Mommy!" "No biting Mommy!" "Come heeyer Mommy!" I also love that he says "Rock and Roll-Roll" instead of plain old Rock and Roll.

When Luke says his ritual recitation- we have no idea where he got this or why he does it- at bedtime, when Scott leaves in the morning, and when I drop him off in the morning:

Bye, Love you, hope you have a safe sleep and a good sleep (or drive), hope you dream about Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Bob Marley, the Abominable Snowman, and Buddha, bye, I love you. Love you so much I'm squished like a coinie (or smaller than a piece of dust) put all the bumps down and leave the door open. Bye I love you.

Go Dodgers!

This week Luke started T-Ball, and much to his Dad's chagrin, he's on the Dodgers (Scott is a Padres fan). Even so, T-Ball is a blast. The pace of this game seems better suited for Luke, and the team is co-ed at this level. In his first game today, he hit two shots straight up the field, and smiled ear to ear as he ran the bases. As a fielder he pursued all the balls, even when he was supposed to be manning center field. It's going to be a great season! Go Dodgers!

Mammoth 2010

What an amazing adventure we had in Mammoth this year! We drove up on Friday and the boys were great in the car. We stopped in Olancha to stretch and refuel ,and were greeted by a windstorm that positively thrilled the boys. Luke found a flaming hot snow beanie at the gas station that we decided to buy- and boy does he look cool. On the 395 it started to snow, and since I have never driven in snow, it was an interesting experience. Once off 395, we needed chains, so we paid the man to put them on and continued to Nana and Grampa Hal's condo at the 1849.
On our first morning, we dressed the kids and let them play in the area just outside the condo. They had about two feet of fresh now to play in, and several hours of good weather until the snow began again.

Right across the street from the condo is a great little area between buildings for sledding. On our last day, our Bumpa joined the boys for some fun sledding!

Luke took lessons for the third season, and has completed level 1 of 6. This means that he can do basic skiing, stop well using the snow plow (or pizza slice), and even can ski small moguls (he calls them bumps). Here he is with Megan, whose family joined us again this year on our adventure. We love travelling with the Clarks and going to have breakfast at The Stove!
We are always looking forward to our next adventure in the snow!

Nate in the Snow

Nate was excited to play in the snow while we were in Mammoth, so much so that for the last hour on the drive up the mountain, he screamed, "Touch It! Touch Snow!" in a not so nice, two-year-old way. Unfortunately, he was under the weather most of the trip, so his contact with the snow was somewhat limited. Would you believe, though, that next year he will be old enough for ski lessons? And I am quite certain he'll be more than ready.

Dog Sledding

Today was our last day in Mammoth, and we got to go dog sledding for an hour at Smokey Bear Flats! Bumpa tagged along to take some photos and play in the snow. Our musher, Mike, was a great tour guide, and the dogs were loving and friendly. The kids loved playing with the 30 dogs at the site, as well as riding in the sled. Every so often on the trail, the dogs would stop and cover themselves with snow, to cool off. They also would pass gas from time to time (apparently they eat hot soup for breakfast, which runs right through them)! This was truly a once in a lifetime experience, and something that we could all enjoy together... the perfect way to end our Mammoth adventure!
