The Disney Cruise

A family trip to remember!!!!
Thanks to our Bumpa and Melly, we went on the adventure of a lifetime over Spring Break this year. We sailed out of Long Beach (nice to drive 20 minutes to your vacay!!) on the Disney Wonder.
As you board the ship, they announce, "Welcome to the Altenberg Family", and right then, the magic begins!!
The service was great and really catered to children. They made hats out of our napkins, there were meals with the characters, and the dining rooms themselves were interactive (one became colorized as the night went on)! They took special care of Luke, serving him tuna tartar and other special foods each night, thanks to Chef Alex. y. The food was good, and Luke especially enjoyed the grill by the pool, where the chicken tenders and fries were deemed "safe."  We had a wonderful stateroom that connected to Jamie, Jess, and Matthew, which was convenient for sharing babysitting and having pre-dinner cocktails. The room had a curtain to separate the kids sleeping area from the adults, and there were two bathroom areas- one with a bathtub!  There was SO MUCH to do! We saw Broadway caliber spectacles every night, and Luke was especially fascinated by a ventriloquist act (although it freaked Nate out). In the picture below, Luke is posing with The Bucket Boys, who put on an incredible drumming show, which had both my boys wildly entertained.
Below, Scott and I go beer tasting with the family:

Luke was mesmerized by the Oceaneer Lab (The Kids Club) and couldn't get enough. Luke and Nate were able to visit the club together, and Luke earned a "Best Big Brother Award" because he was so kind and careful with his brother. Luke loved the Wii and using the computers for individual games like Plants vs. Aliens.    Our ports were Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.  Lindsey and Rod met us in Cabo, so we enjoyed spending the day at their hotel. In Puerto Vallarta, we walked the main beach and saw all the street performers, then found a beach bar and restaurant to spend the day while the kids played in the water. Below, the boys and Mickey pose offshore from Cabo San Lucas.
Here's me and Bumpa on formal night:

Finally, you have to recognize Pirate Night on a Disney Cruise. We all dressed up to celebrate, and enjoyed the deck party, where the pirates battle until Mickey ziplines across the deck to "I Need a Hero", followed by a spectacular at-sea firework extravaganza. After all that, a late-night deck party ensued, so Luke and I stayed to shake our booties for a bit.

Yep... A pirate's life for me.
Can't wait to go back!!!
