It's so hard to say goodbye... and at our house, it is at least a ten minute process.
First, we all say goodbye to Daddy as he goes outside to get into his car. Then, Scott pulls his car down the driveway, and the kids wait at the side door. When the car passes, the kids throw open the door and race down the side stairs for another hug and kiss. Scott lifts them up through the window to make this happen. Then, Scott usually plays some song (most recently Particle Man by They Might Be Giants) and they all dance for a minute or two. When Scott finally pulls out all the way, the kids race each other to slam the gate shut before heading back into the house to finish their waffles.
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
